Rizal in the Southeast Asian Imagination

G/F Masters Gallery, Yuchengco Museum
July 16, Saturday, 3 – 5 p.m.

Mark your calendars this July with our upcoming series of Saturday lectures for the exhibit RIZALizing the Future. Each of our talks looks into a different facet of Jose Rizal’s life and legacy.

Rizal in the Southeast Asian Imagination

John Nery, Philippine Daily Inquirer columnist

Rizal’s image as a patriot has sparked the imagination of Southeast Asian writers and academics for decades. In his second lecture, John Nery focuses on cultural uses of Rizal’s image, such as Pramoedya Ananta Toer’s references to Rizal in his novels.

Lectures are free with museum admission. For details, call 889-1234 or email info@yuchengcomuseum.org.
