Dr. Beatriz Alvarez-Tardio obtained her Ph.D. in Philippine Literature in Spanish from the University of the Philippines in 2004, and has undertaken postgraduate studies on Gender and Feminism with honors. She taught in Ateneo and UP a subject entitled “The Literary Context of the Noli and the Fili” for several years. She is now preparing a collection of essays where she discusses the outputs of her research of Rizal’s novels from a literary perspective. She has also written two books about the Filipina writer Adelina Gurrea.
